KRABI, Nov 2 (TNA) – Thailand Biennale Krabi 2018, the international exhibition of contemporary art is set to be officially opened this evening in this Andaman coastal province to showcase 70 works of famous artists from 20 countries, including Thailand.
The first Thailand Biennale, organized by the Ministry of Culture under the theme “The Edge of the Wonderland” will be staged at natural sites such as on beaches, islands and parks in Krabi until February 28.
It is expected the four-month event will help generate the country’s tourism income of 100 million baht.
Meanwhile, the province also held the Hua Tong long tail boat blessing ceremony on Friday morning to mark the start of the peak tourist season in Krabi.
The Islamic ceremony, presided over by the Culture Minister Weera Rojpotchanarat was performed on 400 boats.
Hua Tong boats are traditional fishing boats only used in the Andaman Sea.
It is expected that during the four-month high season of Krabi, the number of tourists will increase by 10 per cent or about 700,000 people, generating the income of about 100 billion baht. (TNA)
