CHIANG RAI, Oct 31 (TNA) – The cabinet retreat, held in the northern province of Chiang Rai yesterday agreed to expedite the the double-track railway project from Den Chai in Phrae to Chiang Khong in Chiang Rai border province.
The 323-km double-track railway will facilitate travel and transportation to the North, which connects neighbouring Laos, linking to southern China.
The 85-billion –baht double-track railway project will run through 26 stations, passing four provinces, Phrae, Lampang, Phayao and Chiang Rai.
Under the plan, the bidding for the construction is set to start in August 2019 and the construction is scheduled to begin in January 2020 and will be finished in 2023.
The double-track railway is aimed a developing economy in the North as well as tourism in secondary provinces. (TNA)
