BANGKOK, Dec 4 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his cabinet ministers will visit the Bang Sue Grand Station on Dec 15 to inspect its construction progress before its opening in March next year, according to the government spokesman.
Anucha Burapachaisri, the spokesman, said that in the visit after the cabinet’s meeting on Dec 15, the delegation would also board a Red Line train from the Bang Sue station to the Don Mueang station.
“The prime minister attaches importance to the development of infrastructures, logistics and convenient transport for Thai people. When the Bang Sue Grand Station is completed, it will become the most advanced and biggest railway hub of the region. It will be the center of all land transport modes including high-speed trains, trains to link airports, trains of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority and BTS, Airport Rail Link and inter-provincial buses,” Mr Anucha said.
The 2,475-rai Bang Sue Grand Station with 304,000 square meters of usable space will also become a new Central Business District in place of the 120-rai Hua Lamphong railway terminus.
The Bang Sue station will have 24 platforms and be capable of serving 624,000 passengers a day. It will be connected to Blue, Green and Purple Lines, the Mor Chit bus station and Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao airports. (TNA)
