CHONBURI, May 28 (TNA) – Squid fishing is usually done out at sea, but in Chonburi Province, a squid fishing competition was held right on the beach, drawing hundreds of eager participants.
The event, “Pattaya Squid Fair 2024 Taste of The Sea: Beachfront Squid and Seafood Festival,” took place over the recent holiday weekend at Jomtien Beach. The highlight of the event was the squid fishing competition, which attracted over 150 Thai and foreign tourists.
Participants lined up along the beach, casting their lines into the sea in hopes of catching the biggest squid. The atmosphere was electrifying, with both competitors and spectators cheering each other on.
Organized by the Pattaya and Chonburi Business and Tourism Association, in collaboration with the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization, Pattaya City, and other partners, the event aimed to promote seafood tourism and generate income for local communities.
In addition to the squid fishing competition, the fair also featured over 70 stalls selling a variety of food, including Chonburi’s famous seafood delicacies.
The Pattaya Squid Fair 2024 was a resounding success, showcasing the region’s unique fishing culture and culinary delights while boosting local tourism. -819 (TNA)
