BANGKOK, Nov 28 (TNA) – The Cabinet has given its approval for adjusting the salaries of newly-recruited civil servants by 10% to start at 18,000 baht over the next two years.
The Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) Danucha Pichayanan said that the approval aligns with the proposal put forth by the Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC). The adjustment will be implemented for newly recruited civil servants, with the increase taking place over the fiscal years 2024 and 2025.
As a result, the monthly starting salary for civil servants will be raised to 16,500 baht in the fiscal year 2024 and will further increase to 18,000 baht in the fiscal year 2025, up from the current 15,000 baht.
The salary increase for new civil servants will tentatively commence in mid-2024, following the enactment of the fiscal year budget.
For low-ranking civil servants who joined the service earlier and whose salary is still below 18,000 baht per month, there will be a base salary adjustment to a level higher than that of newly recruited civil servants.
During the period before the salary adjustment, they will receive an increase in the cost of living allowance.
However, senior civil servants from the Expert Level (C9) will not receive a salary increase as part of this adjustment. (TNA)
