BANGKOK, June 22 (TNA) — The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Secretary General Kanit Sangsubhan said he is confident that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha could accelerate the gigantic government-sponsored investment.
The EEC chief believes application to be submitted to the Board of Investment in 2019 would jump to 400 billion baht, up from 300 billion baht last year.
The overview of investor confident has sharply improved after the current government has ordered the State Railway of Thailand to ink a contract with the successful private bidder on a high-speed railway project linking three major airports – Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Meuang International Airport and U-Tapao Airport. The signing of the contract will be held soon.
On next Monday, the EEC will consider a project to further develop Map Ta Phut deep seaport in the eastern province of Rayong.
The agency will take about one month from now to consider a programme to advance Laem Chabang port and an aviation hub which, if approved by the EEC, will further improve confidence of the private sector. (END)
