BANGKOK, May 27 (TNA) – The Ministry of Labour offers training for chefs on international cruise ships thanks to high demand for qualified chefs and cooks in the growing cruise ship tourism.
Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, Sutthi Sukosol said that 81 people in total had undergone four 42-hour training courses.
The new course on food and catering management on cruise ships will be opened again in July and September.
He said trainees will learn about culinary skill, food safety and hygiene, kitchen and waste management as well as cultural and religious aspects related to food.
Qualified applicants must have a minimum six-month work experience on ocean liners in the past five years or one-year work experience in cooking.
Those, who have culinary degrees or underwent at least 30 –hour culinary training programme can also apply for the course at the Labour College Tel. 022454317. (TNA)
