KRABI, Nov 25 (TNA) – A cruise ship, which struck submerged rock
and ran aground off Phi Phi Island, has been freed and escorted to shore and all passengers have been safely rescued.
La Belle des Oceans, a cruise vessel of the Phuket
Shipping company was travelling from Lanta Island to Phuket Island when it hit underwater
rock and got struck.
There were 80 tourists from Croatia and the Philippines
and 70 crew members on board.
After being alerted about the incident,
Royal Thai Navy ship, HTMS Sriracha was
dispatched to pull off the cruise ship and escort it to shore in Phuket.
A helicopter flew over the area to check possible oil
