SONGKHLA, May 24 (TNA) – Celebrating World Turtle Day,
Songkhla Zoo of Thailand gives a feast for its seven turtles to feed on.
To mark the annual event founded by American Tortoise Rescue
in 2000, the Zoo in the southern province aims to raise awareness on
conservation of turtle and tortoises.
In the special treat, the seven turtles ate seven types of
food attached to strings, the method that the zookeepers said would promote
mobility and, thus, health of the turtles.
The pleasant meal for them was made up of apple, watermelon,
cactus flower, butterfly pea, pumpkin, grape and bell pepper.
All over the world, people celebrate World Turtle Day by
actively involved in projects that help rescue turtles and protect their
habitats.
The Zoo educated visitors about human activities such as
fishery, tourism and housing development that have endangered the fragile
creatures.(TNA)
