BANGKOK, April 18 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will attend the 2ndBelt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) in Beijing on April 26-27.
Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said Gen Prayut, Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith would attend the forum and push for comprehensive cooperation.
Lt Gen Werachon said the main topic of the forum would be “Belt and Road Cooperation: Shaping a Brighter Shared Future”. Leaders of 38 countries along the Belt and Road would be there to discuss comprehensive cooperation and endorse a joint communique from the Leaders Roundtable.
“In the forum, the prime minister will emphasize the roles of Thailand as the chair of ASEAN in promoting all dimensions of connectivity. He will show readiness to cooperate with China on promoting connectivity at sub-regional and regional levels,” Lt Gen Weracon said.
He would also propose enhanced cooperation to support the Thailand 4.0 policy and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project, promote Thailand as ASEAN’s logistic hub and enable China to better connect with EEC and ASEAN.
During the forum, the prime minister would also meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to discuss bilateral cooperation especially on economic and digital affairs, technological development, innovation and EEC, Lt Gen Werachon said. (TNA)
