BANGKOK, April 27 (TNA) – Thailand will increase trade and investment with China to 140 billion U.S. dollars within 2021, said Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha.
Gen. Prayut, now in Beijing to attend the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF), said after his bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping that both countries would push strategic relations to reality while setting target for bilateral trade and investment to 140 billion dollars within 2021.
Gen. Prayut also thanked President Xi after over 10 million Chinese tourists have visited the kingdom while the latter promised that more Chinese tourists would visit Thailand in the near future.
Chinese tourists and businessmen will be treated well while staying in Thailand, Gen. Prayut told the Chinese leader.
While stressing cooperation under his government push under Thailand 4.0 to promote innovation, creativity, research and development, higher technologies and green technologies during the 2nd BRF, Gen. Prayut also told delegates about the Eastern Economic Corridor which would eventually connect China with ASEAN in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and the Pearl River Delta.
Touching on historical rail line from Bangkok to Nong Khai and then to Vientiane and Yunnan, Gen. Prayut said a memorandum of understanding would be signed today between Thailand and Laos. (TNA)
