NONTHABURI, March 22 (TNA) – The government goes ahead with the 20-year water management master plan, starting with supplying enough water for consumption to 7,490 villages, facing water shortage by this year, said Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Chatchai Sarikulya.
The deputy prime minister made the remark during the opening of the event to observe the World Water Day today. This year’s theme is “No One Left Behind.”
He said that the government gives priority to water supply for consumption. It will solve water shortage at 7,490 villages this year.
Worn-out running water system will be fixed to ensure that it meets the criteria of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2030.
It will enhance the efficiency to supply water to urban and business areas, covering 4.2 million households and reduce water loss in water distribution pipes from 30 per cent to 20 per cent. (TNA)
