BANGKOK, March 19 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan
Administration (BMA) is about to finish landscape improvement in inner Bangkok
for royal processions related to the coronation of King Rama X.
Bangkok governor Aswin Khwanmuang said the landscape
improvement was 80% completed along royal procession routes stretching 7.2
kilometers on roads in downtown Bangkok. The improvement included decorative
flowers, honorary arches, and new paints on traffic lanes and ancient places en
route. The task would be finished within
March, he said.
The governor expected hundreds of thousands of people would
show up to witness coronation-related ceremonies on May 4-6.
The BMA had yet to prepare accommodations for the people.
Stadiums at the Thai-Japanese youth center in Din Daeng district alone could
not accommodate everyone. Therefore, the BMA would arrange for additional
accommodations at local schools and temples, Mr Aswin said.
According to the Bangkok governor, about 500,000 reusable
water bottles will be distributed to general people at eight locations. Free
meals will be handed out. There will be shuttle buses to ceremonial venues
where private vehicles will be screened out. And about 2,500 big screens will be
set up to show live coverage of coronation-related ceremonies and documentaries
honoring His Majesty the King.(TNA)
