SUMUT PRAKAN, March 5 (TNA) – Bodies of five Thai tourists were sent to their home in Samut Prakan from Laos through the border in Nong Khai after their pick-up truck plunged into a steep ravine in Luang Prabang.
Immigration officials at the first Thai-Lao friendship bridge in Nong Khai facilitated transportation of the bodies across the border.
Sompob Srisawat, the driver of the ill-fated pick-up took his family, including his parents, a brother and a sister on a road trip to Luang Prabang before he would move to work in Dubai.
The Srisawat family’s five members died in the accident, which occurred between Kasi district to Nan district in Luang Prabang on March 1.
A Lao Red Cross official said the transportation of the bodies was delayed due to rough terrain and poor road conditions. He warned Thai tourists to drive carefully while travelling through mountainous areas in Laos and suggested that they had better hire Lao drivers for the road trip.
The seven-day funeral of the Srisawat family will be held at the Chaimongkol Temple in Samut Prakan province. (TNA)
