BANGKOK, Jan 10 (TNA) – Nearly 900 students win Education
Ministry’s awards for their outstanding performances and social contributions
on the occasion of the National Children’s Day which falls this year on January
12.
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha presented the awards
to 890 children selected by the Education Ministry in a ceremony at Government
House on Wednesday.
The awards were divided into five categories; academic, arts
and music, morality, sports and recreation and vocational skills, according to
the Education Ministry.
Prayut, in his speech, congratulated the award recipients
and urged the country’s youths to constantly improve themselves in the pursuit
of excellence while uphold to good virtues.
He called for children’s social contribution through
volunteering and uphold to the democratic principles.
Thailand celebrates National Children’s Day on the second
Saturdays of January each year.
The Government House will hold National Children’s Day
activities inside the compound which normally include allowing children to get
a glimpse of prime minister’s office.
The highlight of Government House Children Day is sitting on the actual
chair of the prime minister, the country’s top job. (TNA)
