BANGKOK, Jan 7 (TNA) — The president of the Football Association of Thailand (FA Thaialnd) has sacked Thailand’s national football coach Milovan Rajevac after the men’s national football team was defeated by India 1-4 in their first Group A match of the Asian Cup tournament in Abu Dhabi last night.
The dismissal was posted on the FA Thailand website at 4.36am. FA Thailand president Somyot Poompanmoung wrote that the team had hoped to have a great match and prove it could do better than its past performances but last night was a hard time.
Regarding the match’s result, Pol Maj Somyot said players and coaching staff did their best and the match’s result proved that their game was not a right one.
Therefore, he immediately terminated the contract of Mr Rajevac and his coaching team and appointed assistant coach Sirisak Yodyathai the acting coach and Choketawee Promrut assistant coach for the rest matches of the tournament.
Mr Somyot also thanked Mr Rajevac and the latter’s team for their past efforts.
Mr Rajevac from Serbia started to coach the men’s national football team on May 5, 2017, after the resignation of Kiatisuk Senamuang. (TNA)
