BANGKOK, Jan 2 (TNA) – A special panel has been set up to
oversee the coronation ceremonies of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun
in May, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Wednesday.
The Royal Household Bureau on the New Year Day made the
official announcement that the coronation ceremonies would take place between
May 4 and 6.
Prayut told reporters at Government House that Deputy Prime
Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam had been appointed to lead the panel in carrying out
the duty.
The government had made preparation for the historic events
all along and would ensure that the ceremonies be held in accordance with the
royal tradition, Prayut said.
The Royal Household’s announcement published on Tuesday says
the coronation will take place on May 4, a royal parade on May 5 and a public
appearance on the last day.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn succeeded his father, His Majesty
King Bhumibol Adulyadej who passed away on October 13, 2016. (TNA)
