PHITSANULOK, DEC 27 (TNA) – Bodies of two South Korean
golfers have been retrieved two days after drowning at the Nan River in
Thailand’s Phitsanulok province on Tuesday.
One of the bodies was found Wednesday by a team of divers
while the other was spotted 10 kilometers away from the golf resort, officials
told a press briefing on Thursday.
Jun Yong Sung, 68 and Jaseoong Ha, 76, just completed their
round at a golf resort with their wives when the tragic accident occurred
Tuesday morning. As Jaseoong Ha and his
wife were waiting on their golf cart to cross the river the other buggy
carrying Jun Yong Sung and his wife failed to stop and bumped into the rear of
the first cart.
Jaseoong Ha and the wife plunged into the river before Jun
Yong Sung jumped into the water trying to help them. The wife was saved by a local but both men
disappeared shortly afterward.
Phitsanulok Governor Piphat Ekphaphan told the press
conference the bodies had been sent for autopsy at Buddhachinaraj Hospital.
The provincial administration would facilitate returns of
the bodies to their home country, he said.
The Governor said he would access safety regulations and
consider preventive measures in the province.
Earlier on Wednesday, the governor implied that golfers
should not be allowed to operate golf cart. (TNA)
