BANGKOK, Nov 19 (TNA) — The Royal Thai Police will be hosting the 23rd World Police Band Concert from November 24-25 in Bangkok.
Deputy National Police Chief Pol Gen Rungroj Sangkram along with Mr Tomoyuki Fujiyama, the First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy to Thailand and Mr Hirotsugu Horinouchi, a member of the concert organising committee and a senior staff at the Mainichi Shimbun jointly chaired a press conference today to announce the 23rd World Police Band Concert which will be held in Thailand.
The event was actually founded by the Mainichi Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper to provide police officers with a break from their often stressful duties and express themselves musically while at the same time fostering closer ties with the general public.
The first event was held back in 1996 in Tokyo with attendance from police bands from the New York, London, Sydney, Seoul, Paris and Madrid police forces. Significantly, the event provided police officers from all over the world a venue for which to meet under relaxed circumstances and develop priceless bonds of friendship among themselves.
This year, the Royal Thai Police has been given the honour of hosting the event which will be held from November 24-25. Police bands from Japan, Singapore, Myanmar and of course Thailand will be taking part.
The general public has been granted a standing invitation to attend the event free-of-charge. (TNA)
