BANGKOK, Jan 4 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has declared its offices free from plastic and Styrofoam waste, starting from Jan 1.
Bangkok Governor, Aswin Khwanmuang said the new measure is in line with the Cabinet’s resolution to phase out single-use plastics at all government agencies by urging state officials to switch to use cloth bags instead.
Moreover, the BMA has also ordered restaurants and food vendors, selling food in its premises to stop using plastic bags and foam containers.
Persons, who come to use services at BMA offices are also asked not to bring plastic bags into the buildings.
The Bangkok governor said the city hall has implemented projects and conducted several activities to reduce waste and sort out garbage for proper management. This year, it will take more tangible actions to effectively reduce waste production. (TNA)
