BANGKOK, Nov 23 (TNA) – After the government legalised marijuana for medical
purposes, it has advised people not to become prey and buy marijuana-based
health products, said a deputy spokeswoman to the Prime Minister’s Office.
The warning was made after a woman reportedly filed
a complaint with the police that she was offered cannabis-infused gummies by an
actor in a restaurant. The woman ate it and became dizzy before she could
escape to hospital.
According to the deputy spokeswoman, Trisulee Trisaranakul, Public Health
Minister Anutin Charnveerakul was worried about the issue and ordered the Food
and Drug Administration officials to stress to the people that importing, possessing
or selling online of cannabis-infused products are illegal.
Those, who buy such a product online or carry the
product into country will face a maximum five-year in jail and a maximum fine
of 500,000 baht. (TNA)
