BANGKOK, Sept 26 (TNA) – Most patients, who received marijuana-based medication have responded positively to the treatment, said Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital in Prachin Buri province.
The hospital’s marijuana clinic is opened on the fourth Monday of each month or once a month.
Since the opening of the clinic in June, the clinic have prescribed 137 cannabis-based oil to qualified patients, who suffer from Parkinson’s disease (PD), epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, spasm, neuropathic pain, tumour and last stage cancer.
All patients were screened to ensure they did not respond to conventional treatment before the doctors allowed them to use marijuana oil.
According to follow-up and evaluation of 66 patients with all illnesses, 64 per cent of PD patients have improvement in their conditions. All patients, suffering from epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease reported better conditions.
Currently, 26 hospitals offer treatment with marijuana-based medication across the country.
Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital’s marijuana clinic plans to receive more patients by increasing the clinic operation to twice a month in November, on the second and the fourth Mondays of every month. (TNA)
