BURI RAM, Sept 16 (TNA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has expressed his satisfaction with progress in the production of medical marijuana in the northeastern province of Buri Ram where a community-based enterprise participates in it.
At the Play La Ploen floral park on Monday, Mr Anutin visited a plantation of marijuana by the Play La Ploen herb development center that is a community-based enterprise.
The center received marijuana seeds from Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital and sends marijuana yields to Khumuang Hospital where medical marijuana oil is produced.
Mr Anutin said that the Public Health Ministry prioritized the production of medical marijuana oil and the production in Buri Ram would feed medical marijuana to hospitals in Nakhon Ratchasima, Chaiyaphum, Buri Ram and Surin provinces. He called the pilot project “Buri Ram Model”.
The Play La Ploen herbal enterprise would share its knowhow with other community enterprises that could participate in medical marijuana production in the future, he said.
The closed-system cultivation of marijuana at Play La Ploen started on Aug 22. Buri Ram saw the registration of 1,411 people possessing marijuana in April. The number is the highest in the country, forming 29.89% of registered marijuana owners nationwide. (TNA)
