BANGKOK, Sept 3 (TNA) – A tropical storm warning has been issued by the Meteorological Department for heavy to very heavy rain and possible flash floods in the northeastern and eastern regions.
The tropical storm “Kajiki” was centered over Hue in central Vietnam and is moving westward slowly with a maximum wind speed of 65kph.
It will bring torrential rain and isolated heavy rain in many parts of Thailand until Wednesday, particularly in the Northeast and the East. People should brace for the severe conditions that may cause flash flood and water runoff, said the weather department.
Waves are likely 2-3 metres high in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister, Anupong Paojinda said the ongoing floods, influenced by depression Podul affected people in 26 provinces.
In the latest report, flooding remains in four northern provinces and five northeastern provinces. The authorities will accelerate draining water from flooded areas to brace for more rain from the new storm, the minister said.
Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-ocha will take a field trip to flood-stricken provinces of Phitsanulok and Sukhothai on Wednesday, he added. (TNA)
