BANGKOK, Nov 25 (TNA) – A group of Israeli food technology startups showcased their innovative solutions at a roadshow in Bangkok on November 22, aiming to foster collaboration with Thai companies and drive innovation in the food industry.
The event, hosted by the Israeli Embassy in Thailand, marked the second annual FoodTech Roadshow in the country. It attracted a large crowd of participants, including representatives from leading Thai food and beverage companies, investors, and industry enthusiasts.
Israel is renowned for its robust food tech ecosystem, driven by the nation’s need to ensure food security in a desert climate. The country has developed cutting-edge technologies to address challenges such as water scarcity and limited arable land. The roadshow featured a range of innovative food products, including sugar-reduced orange juice, non-animal dairy products like cream cheese and cheesecake, and algae-protein-based sausages and bacon. These technologies have the potential to revolutionize the global food industry, which is valued at over $8 trillion.
“Our FoodTech Roadshow marks another milestone in the dynamic Israeli-Thai partnership, especially in shaping the future of the food industry. I’m thrilled by the strong turnout of key figures from both nations’ food sectors. By uniting our strengths, Israel and Thailand are uniquely positioned to drive innovation and leave a lasting impact on the global food market,” said Orna Sagiv, the Israeli Ambassador to Thailand.
Dr. Thanyawat Kasemsuwan, Director of Innovation at Thai Union, one of Thailand’s largest seafood companies, highlighted the importance of collaboration between startups and established businesses.
“I believe that collaboration is key to the industry’s success. By working together, we can harness the power of startups’ innovations and technologies. While the government has made strides in developing a startup ecosystem, additional support for attracting global talent would be a game-changer for our industry,” he said.
The Israeli Embassy emphasized that Thailand is a gateway to Southeast Asia and a growing Asian market. In recent years, there has been increasing interest from both Thai and Israeli companies in cross-border investments and partnerships. – 819 (TNA)
