BANGKOK, Sept 10 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha had Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Thamanat Prompow be removed from office while the latter said he resigned because the prime minister and he did not share the same goal.
Mr. Thamanat held a press conference at the parliament at about 3.30pm on Sept 9 and insisted that he resigned as the deputy agriculture and cooperatives minister.
The press conference was followed by an announcement through the Royal Gazette that Mr. Thamanat was dismissed from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and Narumon Pinyosinwat was removed from her office as a deputy labour minister.
On the issue, Prime Minister Prayut said he made his own decision on the change of both deputy ministers in his cabinet and the ruling Palang Pracharath Party had yet to find successors.
Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said that both deputy ministers were sacked because the royal command on their removal referred to Section 171 of the constitution which stipulated that the King had the royal prerogative to remove a minister from his or her office upon the advice of the prime minister.
