BANGKOK, Aug 4 (TNA) – Workers and employers in nine business types affected by COVID-19 in ten hardest-hit provinces received financial aid through the government’s PromptPay payment system today.
The ten provinces under maximum and strict COVID-19 control measures are Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Narathiwat, Pattani, Songkhla and Yala.
Ladda Saelee, deputy spokeswoman of the Social Security Office, said the workers who were members of the Social Security Fund received 2,500 baht each through their PromptPay account registered with their ID card numbers. Affected employers obtained 3,000 baht per worker with the assistance limited at 200 workers for each employer. Individual employers also received the money via their PromptPay accounts while juristic persons obtained the aid through their bank accounts.
Affected workers in three other dark-red provinces namely Chachoengsao, Chon Buri and Ayutthaya will receive the financial aid on Aug 9.
The nine business categories eligible for the financial assistance are construction, accommodation, food, arts and entertainment, logistics, wholesale and retail, auto repair, scientific and academic professions and information and communication business. (TNA)
