BANGKOK, June 2 (TNA) – Chaiphol Wipha aka Uncle Phol, a suspect in the death of Nong Chompoo surrendered to police in Bangkok after police had brought an arrest warrant to his house in Mukdahan this morning.
Chaipol, accompanied by his wife arrived at the Royal Thai Police Bureau late Wednesday morning.
Lawyer Sittha Biabangkerd earlier said he would bring Mr Chaiphol to national police chief Pol Gen Suwat Jangyodsuk today.
Police brought an arrest warrant to the house of Chaiphol Wipha but did not see him. He was wanted for the death of his three-year-old niece-in-law last year.
After one year and 16 days of investigation into the case, police successfully sought the warrant for the arrest of Mr Chaiphol, a suspect in the death of Orawan “Nong Chompoo” Wongsricha who had disappeared from home in Ban Kok Kork village in Mukdahan province in May last year.
Holding the warrant issued by the Mukdahan provincial court, police went to Mr Chaiphol’s house in the same village early this morning but did not see him. Police assumed the man was seeking advice from his lawyer.
Mr Chaiphol was charged with depriving a minor aged not over 15 years from parents, abandoning a child aged not over nine years leading to her death and tampering with the body to obstruct autopsy and investigation. (TNA)
