SAMUT SAKHON, Jan 22 (TNA) – Samut Sakhon has launched a new round of mass Covid-19 testing for migrant workers at the Central Shrimp Market ahead of the planned market reopening next week.
The market is the first hotspot of the new wave of Covid-19 infections.
The province’s communicable disease committee agreed to reopen the market on Jan 26 or 27 if everything is ready.
Local authorities and Samut Sakhon Hospital sent a Covid-19 testing mobile unit to collect samples of migrant workers, living in the vicinity to screen them and build confidence that the market is free of the disease.
The test results will be known by tomorrow and the Big Cleaning day will be organized at the market on Jan 25. The field hospital there will be removed.
Thailand on Friday reported 309 new coronavirus cases, including 217 detected by active case finding in communities. The total cases rose to 13,104. (TNA)
