BANGKOK, August 26 (TNA) – Thai and American virologists joined an academic seminar on COVID-19 prevention on Wednesday.
Marking the 40th anniversary of Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health – US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Collaboration (TUC), the two countries celebrated the long-standing ties on public health under the theme “2Nations-2gether-4Health.”
Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and US Ambassador Michael George DeSombre jointly hosted the event at Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute.
Anutin said the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Collaboration (CDC) had contributed to laying strong foundation of Thailand’s public health, since it helped establishing Field Epidemiology Training Program in Thailand 40 years ago.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the TUC had supported disease prevention measures through expert exchange program, contact tracing and data sharing, the minister said. (TNA)
