BANGKOK, Aug 24 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha urged for cooperation and post-COVID development for mutual interest in the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation meeting.
Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said Gen Prayut sent his message in the 3rd Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Leaders’ Meeting at 8.30am. The teleconference gathered leaders of Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and China. Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang co-chaired the meeting.
Opening the conference, Mr Thongloun praised member states for COVID-19 control measures and expected the MLC framework to support post-COVID-19 recovery in the region.
Prime Minister Prayut told the meeting that Thailand emphasized cooperation on water management for the benefits of the whole region, public health security regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and public access to medical services. He said Thailand would develop itself to be the regional production base of medicine and vaccines for everyone.
Gen Prayut also mentioned Thailand’s focus on regional transport networks and economic development and support for small and medium enterprises.
He said that the COVID-19 crisis should create an opportunity for member states to closely cooperate and realize collective economic development. (TNA)
