BANGKOK, Aug 13 (TNA) — Deputy Prime Minister/Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said there was no official confirmation about the report that a Thai man from Japan tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019.
He said that Japan had a different test method from Thailand and he was waiting for an official report on the matter.
Mr Anutin was referring to the news report that the Thai man returned from Japan on Aug 7 for military conscription in his home province of Chiang Rai. Upon his return, the man was quarantined and tested negative twice for COVID-19.
Later he left for Japan where he tested positive for the disease.
Mr Anutin said he was waiting for health officials’ report on their interrogation with the man’s family in Chiang Rai.
He also said that the cabinet would be asked today to allocate 600 million baht for a project to jointly develop a COVID-19 vaccine with Britain. He said that the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration already endorsed the budget allocation. (TNA)
