PRACHINBURI, April 21 (TNA) – A tour bus collided with a trailer truck and caught fire on a downhill slope in Prachinburi late last night, resulting in 7 fatalities and over 50 injuries.
The accident occurred around 1:30 AM on Highway 304 near the Khao Sal Pu Ton area, known for previous accidents.
The bus, carrying 56 passengers from Nong Khai to Rayong, reportedly swerved before hitting the truck.
Initial speculation points to brake failure as a possible cause, corroborated by a passenger who reported a burning smell and the bus swerving in an apparent attempt to slow down. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the crash, including the bus’s maintenance and adherence to rest stop regulations.
Among the deceased are both drivers, a bus attendant, and four passengers (5 men, 2 women). Injured passengers are receiving treatment at local hospitals. -819 (TNA)
