BANGKOK, Sept 12 (TNA) – Thailand’s new Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, delivered a 58-minute policy statement to the joint session of Parliament on Thursday, outlining 10 urgent policies aimed at boosting the economy and improving the lives of Thai citizens.
Among the key policies highlighted were digital wallets, modernizing agriculture, flat-rate electric train fares for entire routes, cracking down on online crime and drug trafficking, drafting a new constitution, and overhauling the tax system.
She emphasized the government’s commitment to creating equal opportunities for all citizens, ensuring that “everyone has enough to eat, enough to use, with dignity and honor.”
The new government faces a multitude of challenges, including a sluggish economy, high levels of debt, income inequality, environmental issues, and social and political divisions.
She pledged to work with all sectors of society to turn these challenges into opportunities. -819 (TNA)
