BANGKOK, May 17 (TNA) – The 74th FIFA Congress on Friday selected Brazil as the host nation for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027.
The vote took place during the General Meeting of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand. FIFA President Gianni Infantino presided over the meeting, which was attended by representatives from all 211 FIFA member associations.
Nualphan Lamsam, president of the Football Association of Thailand, also welcomed FIFA, the continental confederation presidents and representatives of the 211 members.
She expressed pride at being chosen by FIFA to host this major off-field event, providing an opportunity to connect and learn from each other. She hoped Thailand would gain recognition to host major football tournaments like the World Cup in the future.
During agenda item 7, the FIFA president proposed future ideas for World Cups for boys and girls under 15 and support for e-sports.
For the 2027 Women’s World Cup host selection, a joint bid from the European nations Belgium, Germany and Netherlands competed against Brazil. The meeting voted to award the hosting rights to Brazil. -819 (TNA)
