BANGKOK, May 21 (TNA) – The Public Health Ministry opened a COVID-19 vaccination center at the Bangrak Medical Institute and its inoculation began with 500,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine donated by China.
Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Yang Xin, Chinese charge d’affaires in Thailand, opened the Bangrak Vaccination and Health Center which was capable of inoculating at least 180 people a day.
From Feb 28 to May 20, Thailand imported from China 5.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine produced by Sinovac. Besides, the Chinese government donated 1.5 million doses of the vaccine on May 14.
The donated vaccine doses were for about 100,000 Chinese people who have Chinese passports and were instructed by the Chinese embassy to receive the vaccine at the new center.
Later the new facility will give the vaccine to Thai people including Thai students and officials who have courses in other countries and other foreigners. (TNA)
