BANGKOK, Feb 2 (TNA) – Police sought court orders for the extended detention of three Thai men arrested during their rally in front of the Myanmar embassy.
The three were identified as Wichaphat Srikasiphan, 21, Pannaphat Janthanangkul, 20, and Kiatisak Phanrenoo, 20. The members of the WeVo activist group joined a protest against the Myanmar junta yesterday and were arrested after a clash in which 14 policemen were injured.
Pol Col Thanachote Rerkdee, chief of the Yannawa police station, said Mr Pannaphat and Mr Kiatisak were brought to the Bangkok South Criminal Court. They were charged with violating the executive decree on public administration in emergency situations and the Communicable Disease Act. Police did not object their temporary release.
Meanwhile, police brought Mr Wichaphat to the Bangkok South Municipal Court. He was charged with breaching a law on loudspeakers.
The three suspects refused to answer police’s questions and intended to testify in courts only. (TNA)
