RAYONG, Nov 2 (TNA) – The director-general of the Pollution Control Department inspected a waste treatment plant in the eastern province and will impose a pollution control area and sue a company for wastewater leakage.
Attapon Charoenchansa, the director-general, said Natural Resources and Environment Minister Varawut Silpa-archa ordered the department to examine the compound of Win Process Co for discharging wastewater in the way that affected farmland and surface water and killed rubber trees.
Concerned officials decided to set a perimeter of an affected area based on surveys on the quality of soil and water. The department will also declare an area of pollution control and chemical disaster and start quick solutions.
In addition, the department will sue the company and take other decisive legal action against it. Besides, it will quickly help affected people and stop the leakage of wastewater at the plant, Mr Attapon said. (TNA)
