NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Oct 10 (TNA) – Runoffs from Khao Yai flooded Pak Chong municipality. The current was strong and the flood level reached nearly one meter deep in some areas. The old route of Mitrapharp Highway was closed.
The Lam Takhong reservoir that received water from the Khao Yai National Park overflowed to Ratcha Phracha community late last night. The flood level was subsiding but remained deep and local roads were impassable to small vehicles. It was among six flooded communities in Pak Chong municipality.
Meanwhile, floodwater was subsiding in Khanong Phra Klang village in Khanong Phra sub-district that first received runoffs from Khao Yai yesterday. About 100 houses were flooded there. Local roads became passable to small vehicles. However, local residents were worried about the possibility of more runoffs.
Overcast sky remained and sporadic rain continued in Pak Chong district today. People in at-risk areas by the Lam Takhong reservoir were watching out for possible runoffs.
This morning the old route of Mitrapharp Highway was closed from 5am due to the overflow of water from the reservoir. A section of the highway was flooded for a distance of about one kilometer and the flood level was one meter deep in some spots. The current was strong and motorists heading for the center of Nakhon Ratchasima province had to use the new bypass of Mitrapharp Highway. (TNA)
