BANGKOK, May 12 (TNA) – Siriraj Hospital has launched a new normal outpatient department (OPD) service through mobile applications to maintain social distancing measures and to reduce congestion at hospitals.
Dean of the faculty of medicine of Mahidol University Prasit Wattanapa and Siriraj Hospital’s director Dr Wisit Wamwanit said in a press conference the service would be provided through Siriraj Connect application and Line application.
About 8,000-10,000 patients seek medical treatment at Siriraj Hospital daily and the Covid-19 pandemic prompted the hospital to adopt smart technology to reduce congestion at hospital.
Hospital visitors will be the patients who really need tests such as blood tests or x-rays.
Initially, the service will be available at three clinics – internal medicine clinic, surgical clinic and orthopedic clinic for patients of all healthcare welfare schemes.
After registration on Siriraj Connect application, patients, who visit the hospital, can see their queue numbers in real-time on their mobile while waiting for medical treatment and hospital bill payment.
They can also request for medicine home delivery service. Patients with stable condition can seek virtual consultation from doctors via the Line application after adding friend with the hospital.
After-hour clinics are now opened for a limited number of patients at 30-40 persons.
The hospital plans to extend the queue system on the mobile application and remote consultative services to all departments after 90 per cent of the patients, who used the service were satisfied with the trial of the new system. (TNA)
