BANGKOK, Oct 25 (TNA) The Ministry of Culture has organized
an exhibition on the Royal Barge Procession, the ancient royal ceremony as part
of King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s coronation.
The Royal Barge Procession has been postponed from October
24 to December 12 due to strong tides in the Chao Phraya River that officials
say would compromise the grandeur and orderly manner of the elaborate
procession.
The Culture Ministry on Friday opened the grand exhibition
on the procession as a tribute to the King’s coronation.
People flocked the exhibition at Sanam Luang ceremonial
ground in Bangkok, which is divided in to zones on the coronation, the barges,
the royal regalia and oarsmen’s outfits.
The exhibition is open daily from 10 am to 10 pm until
November 11.
In the actual event, over 2,000 oarsmen will take part in
the grandeur procession of 52 royal vessels taking the King and Queen for a
Buddhist merit-making ceremony. (TNA)
