NEW YORK, Sept 23 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha met Thai people, updated them on situations in Thailand and asked them to help boost international confidence in Thailand.
Gen Prayut who was on his visit to New York to attend the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly met representatives of Thai authorities, people and students in the US at about 3.30pm local time after he arrived in New York.
In the meeting that lasted about two hours, Gen Prayut informed the people of situations in Thailand and the policies of his government. He said that in the past five years his government had tried to promote security, prosperity and sustainability and push for political, economic and social reform.
The government had tried to solve deep-rooted social problems including human trafficking and labor problems in order to improve people’s quality of life, Gen Prayut said.
“I am proud and pleased to see Thai people in the US being good citizens of the US. You have careers and businesses that are recognized and have same rights and freedom as Americans’. All of you can take part in the development of Thailand although you live and work in the US. Importantly I hope you are united to present the positive image of Thailand and support foreigners’ confidence in Thailand. You can clearly show the unity and potential of Thai communities in the US,” the prime minister said.
He thanked Thai communities in the US for their support for his government. (TNA)
