BANGKOK, Sept 7 (TNA) – The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry and 43 private shopping stores have announced “ Everyday Say No to Plastic Bags” campaign from next January 1.
Minister Varawut Silpa-archa said that under the campaign, those 43 shops will stop giving plastic bags to customers and will persuade shoppers to switch to cloth bags or other environmentally friendly materials that are friendly to environment instead of using plastic bags.
More details will be held later with the shop owners on costs and ways to assist customers, the minister said.
Under the roadmap to manage plastic garbage between 2018 – 2030, the government aims to reduce single-use plastics by the next three years and to reuse 100 per cent of plastic waste within 2027. (TNA)
