SURIN, Aug 19 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha visited the northeastern provinces of Surin and Buri Ram to inspect drought situations and promised to increase his visits to provinces.
Gen Prayut and his delegation including Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda arrived at Buri Ram airport to pay his visit to the lower northeastern provinces.
He was scheduled to inspect local reservoirs namely Huay Saneng in Surin and Huay Chorakhemak in Buri Ram.
Besides, he launched convoys of trucks to distribute water to drought victims and discussed water shortage solutions with governors of 20 northeastern provinces.
Reserved water filled only 9.86% of the total capacity of the Huai Saneng reservoir in Surin. Water shortages affected about 300 villages in Muang and Samrong Thap districts of the province.
Gen Prayut said he would increase his visits to provinces to inspect local problems. (TNA)
