BANGKOK, May 8 (TNA) — The Constitutional Court on Wednesday laid down a unanimous ruling that Section 128 of the organic law on the election of House representatives did not violate Section 91 of the constitution.
Constitutional Court judges started meeting at 9.30am and an hour later announced their resolution that Section 128 on the calculation and allocation of party-list MPs was constitutional.
The court ruled that Section 91 of the constitution and Section 128 of the House representative election law concerned the method for the calculation of party-list MPs so that there would be 150 list MPs as stipulated by Section 83 of the constitution.
Although Section 128 added more details compared with the content of Section 91, the addition was aimed at coping with the situation that there could not otherwise be 150 list MPs, the Constitutional Court announced. (TNA)
