AYUTTHAYA, May 6 (TNA) – Eleven elephants with beautiful tusks were showered with holy water at the Ayutthaya Elephant Palace before their trip to Bangkok to honor His Majesty the King.
The ceremony for the elephants took place at 9.09am when Phra Khru Kasem Chantawimol, abbot of Wat Pom Raman, showered the pachyderms with sacred water.
In the ceremony, the elephants wore their new decorative uniforms. Their owner Laithongrian Meephan also conducted a religious rite for their good luck.
Mr Laithongrian said the Ayutthaya Elephant Palace and elephant keepers nationwide planned to send the 11 elephants to Bangkok tomorrow (May 7) in honor of the coronation of His Majesty the King.
The elephants in their beautiful uniforms would parade at about 9am tomorrow from the Territorial Defence Command on Sanam Chai road to the location in front of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. (TNA)
