BANGKOK, May 2 (TNA) – The Election Commission will receive election complaints from provinces within this week and announce MP election results on May 7-8.
The Election Commission resolved on April 30 to announce Members of Parliament representing constituencies on May 7 and elected party-list MPs on May 8. The movements would fall within a 150-day deadline for the EC to complete its election organization as stipulated by Section 268 of the constitution, said a source.
Section 127 of the organic law on MP election required the EC to announce elected constituency MPs before the calculation, allocation and announcement of list MPs for political parties.
It was reported that the Office of the Election Commission ordered provincial election directors to report electoral complaints to it within this week so that the EC could prepare its announcement of elected MPs next week.
A source said the Office of the EC would propose the list MP calculation method by the Constitution Drafting Assembly that would allocate at least one list MP each to 27 political parties. (TNA)
