BANGKOK, March 29 (TNA) – The Election Commission (EC) was requested to reveal the formula to calculate the number of the party-list MPs while more complaints of irregularities were filed to the poll agency.
Suriya Juangroongruangkit, in charge of the Palang Pracharat Party (PPRP)’s election strategy in the Northeast asked the EC to disclose the party-list formula for clarity after the announcement of full vote results, as now, rough estimates by each political party and media are different.
Although the investigation into the electoral irregularities could lead to issuing red or yellow cards to winning candidates, the EC should give the number of the party-list seats, based on assumption that there are no red or yellow cards as of now.
He said he was confident that the PPRP would be able to garner more than half seats of lower house to form a coalition government.
Meanwhile, three MP candidates from rival parties, Pheu Thai and Future Forward today lodged objection to the EC’s vote counts in Bangkok’s two constituencies.
Treerat Sirichantharopas, a Pheu Thai candidate in Constituency 13, Bang Kapi district said the number of ballots exceeded voters and as counting was conducted in a dark area. He claimed vote-buying was reported by a witness.
Nitcha Boonlue, a Future Forward candidate in the same constituency said she took the lead during the vote counting and then, her counted ballots dropped by 400. She asked the EC to disclose the vote results of Constituency 13 to give fairness to candidates.
Another Future Forward candidate, Kris Pothanun called for a by-election in Constituency 6, where a military officer entered the polling area and peeked into voting booths while other officers were voting.
He also questioned the full voter turnouts at five constituencies and the EC official’s judgement to invalidate ballots cast for the Future Forward candidate. (TNA)
