BANGKOK, March 11 (TNA) – The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) mobilizes its employees to maintain power transmission and backup systems to secure electricity on the general election date, March 24.
MEA’s PR director Phasook Sampunnachote said the movement was aimed at securing power for all polling units, vote-counting units and electoral command units in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan provinces that were under the jurisdiction of the MEA.
For the maintenance tasks, MEA employees trimmed branches near power lines and replaced old devices on power poles to prevent short circuits. Backup power instruments were also put in place to guarantee smooth power supply for 136 polling and vote-counting units and electoral command stations in the greater Bangkok, Miss Phasook said.
She also encouraged eligible voters to exercise their rights during the voting hours from 8am to 5pm on March 24. (TNA)
