BANGKOK, Oct 18 (TNA) — The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) is conducting its 2.36-billion-baht task to put its electricity wires underground along a distance of 8.2 kilometers in Ratchada-Asoke area within 2023.
Chaipat Sukpaibulwat, MEA’s assistant director for project management, said MEA had earlier started burying electricity wires in Bangkok for the capital’s beautiful landscape. The project made progress and at the latest development reached Ratchada-Asoke area on Ratchadaphisek Road from Samsen Canal to Rama IV Road, as well as on Phetchaburi Road and Rama IV Road. The combined distance of power wires to be buried there stretched 8.2 kilometers.
The work was set from 10pm to 5am daily to minimize impacts on general people.
This year the installation of underground electricity wires would be completed in Pathumwan, Chitralada and Phaya Thai area. The ongoing implementation of the project covered a combined distance of 74.8 kilometers, Mr Chaipat said.
Besides, the MEA would sign more contracts this year to expand the underground cable installation on a combined distance of 94.2 kilometers including inner Bangkok areas and roads along electric railways. (TNA)
